Tips for Writers

I came across a couple of interesting articles with tips for those who love to write and want to do so regularly and/or professionally. Since I know that applies to a lot of people on my flist:

A Moment to Write

Writing Without Inspiration

Hope you enjoy.

haha... I've been working on a way to schedule writing time back into my life... these articles go well with that!

Both articles were encouraging. I have enjoyed writing in the past, but I did most of my writing when I was "forced" to write. For example, in one English class, I had to write 500 words every Thursday. That was such a great gift from our professor--just the time to do nothing but write!

Since then, I have taken a couple of different creative writing classes, and benefited from the pressure of knowing we would be given time to share our work with other students, who would listen appreciatively and help focus and refine my writing.

Lately, much of my life is spent doing tasks that demand immediate attention, leaving little time to pursue worthwhile hobbies. I will try to give myself some writing time this summer, and see what comes out through my fingers.

I had the 'writing bug' when I was unemployed for 6 months after graduating in 2004 and while I was working for my dad. It was a non-stop Frubra fanfic production!

This past year and lately, I used my current situation to avoid writing again. It started to feel like a chore than a hobby (I think I have my Art History thesis to blame, lol). I have to constantly remind myself that once upon a time I loved to write and I need to tap into that love and spread it with words.

I will go with ginnytoo and give myself time to write again. Maybe this time I could help write the next musical review!
