Total # books I own
I've probably had several hundred over the years, but so many have been lost, given away, lent but never returned, etc. Another problem with counting the books I own is that my Mom, Dad, brother and I all freely share, lend, borrow, and steal each other's books so much that I'm not quite sure whose is whose. In my room here in Tallahassee I have with me about 70 books. I have maybe about another 50 at home in Lake Mary that I think I can rightly consider mine, not counting those that may be boxed up in the garage.

If you totaled all the books owned by myself and my immediate family members, you'd get an astronmical number, especially since my Dad has, like, the biggest Sci-Fi/Fantasy collection in the world. ;)

Last book I paid money for
Flashback by fellytone_k8 and her sister.

Last book I read
The last book I completed was Persuasion by Jane Austen. The last book I read a part of was The Holy Bible.

Five books that mean a lot to me
The Holy Bible
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
Harry Potter by JK Rowling
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

ETA: I would give a little comment about each of these, but with the possible exception of the last one, I think I've talked about why these are important to me before. Plus, I'm lazy. :D [/edit]

Five people whose answers to this meme I would like to see:

Hee. I would have passed on the book meme to you, but I decided to give it to Bribitribbit instead. I see it got to you anyway :)

What is the answer you are looking for?
that we post the same questions with our own answers, or something of comments to the five books you listed?

That means you answer the same questions and post them on your journal, just like you would for most any meme that goes around. But if you want to leave a comment about any of the books I mentioned, you can do that, too.

Done. :)

I'm familiar with all the books you mention except A Prayer for Owen Meany (and Flashback). From it's description on Amazon, it sounds very interesting. Yet another book to put on my to-read list :)

It's been quite a few years since my last re-read of it, so I am really due for another one. That books is special to me for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is that it was one of several factors that pulled me out of a crisis of faith when I was in high school.
